Best Wedding Photographer in Greece – Magdalene Kourti
YIf you’re dreaming of a destination wedding surrounded by whitewashed villages, endless blue seas, and golden island light — welcome. I’m Magdalene Kourti, a documentary wedding photographer based in Greece, and for more than a decade I’ve been telling love stories for couples from around the world who choose the Cyclades islands as the backdrop to their “I do.”
My work is rooted in authenticity and emotion. I don’t chase trends or stage moments. Instead, I focus on capturing the real — the quiet glances, the bursts of laughter, the tearful hugs — all the beautiful, unscripted pieces that make your day uniquely yours. Because your wedding isn’t a photoshoot. It’s a story. I’m here to make sure that story lives on honestly and artfully through my images.
My Approach: Storytelling, Not Staging
When I photograph a wedding, I do it as a storyteller. My camera is always moving quietly in the background, anticipating moments rather than interrupting them. I want you to remember how the day felt — the sound of the sea during your ceremony, the warmth of your friends’ laughter at dinner, the wild dancing under the island stars.
The documentary approach means you can be fully present, without worrying about posing or performing. The result is a collection of images that feel natural, timeless, and deeply personal — not a series of staged shots, but a visual story of one of the most meaningful days of your life.
Photographing Weddings Across the Cyclades
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of photographing hundreds of destination weddings across the Greek islands, each one as unique and beautiful as the couple at its center. The Cyclades are especially close to my heart — not just because of their cinematic beauty, but because each island has its own character and story to tell.
Here’s how I approach some of my favorite locations:
Santorini: Dramatic cliffs, sunsets that set the sky on fire, and views that feel like a dream. Santorini weddings are magical, and I love capturing the intimacy and atmosphere of ceremonies perched high above the caldera.
Ios: This island is full of joy — golden beaches, bohemian energy, and a relaxed vibe that suits couples who want a celebration that feels effortless and fun.
Paros & Antiparos: Stylish yet authentic, these islands offer a mix of natural beauty and elegant charm — perfect for both intimate gatherings and bigger celebrations.
Naxos: Wild and romantic, with sweeping landscapes and ancient temples, Naxos offers endless opportunities for breathtaking wedding portraits.
Sifnos: One of Greece’s best-kept secrets. Sifnos is where I often capture the most emotional and heartfelt moments — small weddings and elopements where love is at the center of everything.
Amorgos: My grandmother’s island, and one I hold close to my heart. Amorgos weddings have a special depth for me — the connection to the place often mirrors the connection between the couple.
Mykonos: Glamorous and full of life, Mykonos weddings are all about energy and celebration — and I love turning that vibrancy into timeless images.
Folegandros: Quiet, intimate, and wild — perfect for couples seeking an elopement or a deeply personal ceremony surrounded by raw natural beauty.
Each location inspires a different kind of storytelling, and my job is to translate the feeling of your chosen island into a visual narrative that’s true to who you are.
More Than a Photographer — A Visual Artist
Before I dedicated myself to wedding photography, I was (and still am) a visual artist and fine art photographer. That background deeply influences how I see and capture the world. Light, color, composition — these aren’t just technical elements for me, they’re tools to create emotion.
This artistic eye means I approach your wedding not as a series of events to document, but as a story to craft — one that’s full of depth, atmosphere, and meaning. Each image is designed not just to show you what the day looked like, but to help you feel it again, even decades later.
A Global Perspective, A Local Heart
Most of the couples I work with come from the US, Canada, Australia, the UK, and France, travelling to Greece to celebrate their love in one of the most breathtaking places in the world. My years of experience with international weddings mean I understand what destination planning involves — from timelines and travel logistics to blending traditions and creating an experience that feels effortless.
At the same time, I bring a deep local knowledge of the islands — the best light, hidden corners, trusted vendors, and unique locations that will make your photographs unforgettable.
Your Story, Told Honestly
Your wedding day is not a photoshoot — it’s a living, breathing story, full of fleeting moments and genuine emotion. My role is to be there quietly, attentively, and creatively, preserving those moments without ever intruding on them.
When you look back at your photos, I want you to feel the joy, the anticipation, the connection — not just remember how it looked.
