Sikinos
Sikinos in Greece is a secluded island of the Cyclades island group, located between Folegandros and Ios. Its position, close to some of the most beautiful islands of the Cyclades, makes Sikinos a great destination for quick getaways and island hopping. Tourism has yet to gasp itself upon the island, thus it remains unspoiled and makes it the perfect Greek island destination for relaxing holidays away from the crowds.
The capital of this amazing island is Chora. Built on the slopes of a hill, Chora boasts a beautiful setting and a breathtaking view of the Aegean sea. Chora is a great sample of the traditional Cycladic architecture, as it has traditional whitewashed houses, blue-domed churches, and narrow alleys. Most Sikinos hotels and accommodations are located in the area around Sikinos port, where there are also many shops and taverns.
Sikinos Island Hopping
There are so many reasons to travel, and even more so when you have kids. For us, summertime is the perfect opportunity to explore new places together as a family. We love island hopping around Greece – it’s the perfect way to see lots of different places without having to spend hours on a ferry or plane. And, of course, the islands are absolutely breathtaking.
We always make sure to pack light so that we can move around easily, and we always bring our swimsuits so that we can take advantage of every opportunity to cool off in the Mediterranean Sea. The kids love running around on the beaches and exploring all the different rocks and shells.
Traveling is such an important part of education; it broadens your perspective and helps you understand different cultures. It’s also just a lot of fun! We bond so much as a family when we’re exploring new places together, and we always come home with lots of great memories.
