Couples in love are the protagonists of the tens of weddings performed on Antiparos every year. Love is one of life’s mysteries, marriage an ecclesiastical sacrament [‘mystery’, in Greek], and our charmingly mysterious island offers the perfect setting for the start of a new family.
The churches are linked to the history of the area, and that is why they tie in with it so harmoniously, adorning the rough rocks, the hillsides, the villages, the shores.
All of the approximately 50 (fifty) little churches and chapels located on the island are in operation, as the Orthodox tradition remains intact among Antipariots. Throughout the year, these churches and chapels are cared for by resident families, the Municipality of Antiparos and the Orthodox Church, of course.
Simplicity and beauty shine brightly on this beautiful island. Looking around at the hills and villages, we feel as if a great modern artist outlined them, with slopes and inclines illustrating the poetic design. Paros radiates the light of the sun and reflects the beauty of the deep blue sea.
The wind, the creative conductor and postman of sound, on land and at sea, carries the music from the hills to the valleys, from the reeds in the wetlands to the narrow cobblestone streets of the villages. Every beach has its own unique sound and music. The animal kingdom participates in the fiesta of sound: cicadas, frogs, crickets, owls, hawks, swallows, finches, gulls and other sea birds.
A festival of fragrances is put on by the bushes, sage, oregano, rosemary, laurel, thyme, chamomile, reeds and the lilies of the sea… the seaweed on the beaches, with a strong aroma of sea iodine.
Delicious aromas abound: freshly baked bread, chickpeas in the oven, octopus on the grill, freshly pressed wine…
Grab a table and savor the food of Paros at one of the many family taverns and restaurants. Have breakfast at a café or cafeteria, on the beach or at a traditional village. Sip an ouzo or souma (local spirit) with seafood served by the sea. Enjoy both mild and intense flavors every day and night on Paros. Tickle your palate.
Relax and appreciate the caresses of the sun, wind, sea and sand. Touch and feel the energy of the island.
