Fine Art Painter and Award-Winning Video Artist
i am a Visual artist born in Athens. i Studied Business and Art in Greece before completing my BA in Fine Arts at UAL – Wimbledon College of Arts and MA degree in digital arts and 3d animation at london Metropolitan University.
My most recent work includes video art and has a focus on ecology and natural environments, which has led to underwater projects and artwork. The latest video art installation is “In the light”, which takes the form of a kind of diary reflecting meditative states.
“In the Light” video art project was selected for the 12th Athens Animfest 2017, and at “Digital Art, a new world” 2022 in Athens.
CV
Artist and new media designer, Magdalene Kourti was born in Athens in 1971. Prior to her entrance to the School of Fine Arts, she studied Business at Deree College. A BA in Fine Arts and an MA in Digital Arts have followed, in London, at Wimbledon College of Arts - University of the Arts London and at Metropolitan University respectively. For a short period of time, she studied under D. Mitaras at the Athens School of Fine Arts and under Hundertwasser at the Academy of Fine Arts of Vienna/Erasmus. She has participated in group exhibitions and one-woman shows as well as festivals all over the world. In 2000 her video art piece “weightlessness” was broadcasted by BBC at Leicester Square cinemas. In 2004 she won the Adobe Distinction at the World Festival of Digital Arts in Australia. Some of her work has been published in the album “Contemporary Greek Art 1974-2004” by the art historian I. Kolokotronis. In 2008 she received the title of “Best Experimental Movie” at the Film Festival in Thermaikos and in 2016 her video art piece “in the light” was screened at Animfest.
