Limnos

Limnos

Lemnos or Limnos (Greek: Λήμνος; Ancient Greek: Λῆμνος) is a Greek island in the northern part of the Aegean Sea.

It is quite a big island off the beaten tourist trail. This island stands out for its endless sandy shores, mountainous villages, and interesting archaeological sites. Trivia: According to Mythology, the ancient Greek god Hephaestus used to run a chopper workshop on the island. That’s why the locals built a town named Hephaestia in his honor.

Limnos Sightseeing

Sightseeing is one of the best things to do on this amazing island, as it is full of ancient monuments. The Ancient Kavirio is a must-visit. It is a place strongly related to secret religious ceremonies, so it has a mysterious charm. Right below the Ancient Kavirio, there’s the Cave of Philoctetes, a legendary hero who was abandoned there on his way to Troy.

The first 16 photographs are from where I had spent my summers, Akti Myrina resort which used to be a legend back in the ’70s and ’80s. A place that is full of memories and emotions.
